For clients this is a benefit because they get competent attorneys to fill in as stop gap measures which they can end whenever they desire. For the Axiom organization they do not have to bear the scrutiny they might otherwise have to as a standard law firm which may allow for greater profit margin. For the Axiom attorneys themselves this is a problematic situation, at best, if they rely on Axiom for consistent income.

Due to the way the business model is structured the attorney's are only paid for the hours they work. After Axiom takes their cut of fees from the client most employees probably end up with a fraction of the payment they would make at a law firm or even as in house counsel. The main issue that should cause any prospective employees hesitation about joining this company is Axiom's "on the beach" policy which they sell as the employee being able to work whenever they desire.

In reality, because clients can terminate at will regardless of the reason, and without financial penalty, many employees end up without work through no fault of their own waiting around for another client even if they want to work. Since the attorneys are the ones who bear the brunt of early termination, Axiom doesn't provide compensation to stop gap in between clients, this can create an unstable working environment.

The hardest part of the job was getting there from the burbs. Management was great and was always willing to help out. Work is too inconsistent and favoritism too rampant. Long gaps between projects at times with very few benefits.

The daily hours are long and the hourly pay rate is really, really low. Time between engagements is long. It would be difficult to make a living with Axiom. At full time it would be hard to have a life outside of work.

Axiom bills me out at more than twice what they pay me. They seem to have a lot of employees to support on the more than half of what they charge for me that they retain. Because of the low pay, the clients may think of you as not fully capable of some of their more interesting work. They'll pay outside law firm rates many orders of magnitude higher that you get for work you can easily do for a song - which is demoralizing.

Axiom has a culture that emphasizes professionalism first but cares about its employees on a personal level. There is room for advancement as is the case with any growing company. High pressure, but high reward. Always something to do, had to put on many different hats. A core internal objective and a farther-reaching goal to amplify change throughout the legal ecosystem.
